What is an average day like for you on the job?
I’m an office guy, so I’m running multiple jobs – two to four jobs or more at one time. Although I am in the office a lot, I get to go out in the field and have meetings on jobsites. I meet with the foremen, meet with the owners and the subcontractors, and make sure everything is progressing as it should. I go through emails, answer phone calls, do change orders, get quotes, order all of the materials and stay ahead of the project needs. There really isn’t a typical day. I can be planning meetings, taking notes, sending notes out, invoicing, etc. I’m the answer guy for all my projects.
Do you have a favorite project?
Definitely the high-end residential project in the Parc Rittenhouse. I got to work with materials that we don’t work with often. My favorite material was the water jetted stone in the bathrooms that came from somewhere overseas, which was precut and installed in patterns. The windows were highly customized with metal and wood trimmed, and we had to install them in penthouse 20 floors up. That was an experience.
The job was a little over a year, but I got to work with some great materials that I don’t normally get to work with.
What do you like most about your work?
I like the interaction with people – when I have the chance to go out and interact with the clients and contractors, that’s what I like the most. And seeing the project turn into something nice.
What is your least favorite part of your work?
When I get the call that there is a problem. It’s not something that we plan for, but it can be a lot of work to correct it and address it. But, we stand by our work and we’ll fix any issue.
What is it like to work at Weaver?
It’s a faith-based company and it’s encouraging to be a part of that. The environment is great. The team is really fun to be around. We’ll go out to lunch and we’re all friends. It’s a great place to work.
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
My favorite thing to do is ski! I go every year to upstate New York. I have two boys who are 9 and 10, and a girl who is two years old. I’m getting my boys to start skiing. I also enjoy being active in my children’s sports. And I love all Philadelphia sports teams!
